Alexis "Al" Peter Ustinoff, born September 1, 1927, peacefully passed away at the age of 87, on March 8, 2015 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He met the love of his life, Rosemarie Christine Simon, on a blind date. They married on June 4, 1949 and had seven children. In 1957, Al moved his family to Houston where they eventually settled in Galena Park, Texas in 1966. As the children moved out to make their own lives, the home remained the place they would return each Sunday for family dinner to celebrate birthdays, hear wedding announcements, toast graduations, share birth announcements, and enjoy other family events. Holiday celebrations were loud and lively during these times and Al was happiest having his family all together. He became an example for us to always seek personal fulfillment when he returned to university studies in 1980 where he earned his Bachelor's degree and then Master's Degree from Columbia University. He had always been an avid reader and writer. He had an interesting and varied career path that included a Russian interpreter for the US government, employment with NASA, variety of sales positions, ownership of a television repair shop, teaching Russian in a private school and an educator at the high school and university level. Al passed away with dignity, respect and with no pain due to the incredible care he received. Left to share his life through memories is his loving and devoted wife, Rosemarie; his 7 children and their spouses; Carol Lynn, Alex, Polly and Allen Bottego, Gregory & Cheri, Angela and Paul Candelaria, Rosemary and Robert Brumbelow, Connie and Greg Payne; his 9 grandchildren and their spouses and his 5 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
