Marie Slavik Seitz, of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 25, 2015. Born in Plum, Texas on May 9, 1932, she was 82 years old and never hesitated to tell her age as she was proud of her vivacious and full life at all its ages and stages. She met Roy Frederick Seitz at age 17, fell in love, and married six weeks later. She was his loving wife for 45 years, until his passing. She embraced the roles of wife, homemaker, and mother, bringing to them a love that could not have been deeper or more obvious. She was a friend to so many and could be counted on for any of their needs. For many, she was a second mother, giving encouragement, guidance, and love sincerely. She faced challenges with dignity and determination and the outcome was positive and infused with love. She had many interests and talents including being a great cook, avid fisherman, seamstress, prolific reader, artist, romantic, and a "star" dancer, sexy and spontaneous. Her joke-telling ability was Olympic class, with a talent for embellishment that meant you never heard the same joke the same way twice and you ended up with tears of laughter even though you knew you had heard the joke before. Marie prided herself in being known as "The Wild Bohemian" which to her meant she was game for anything and knew how to enjoy everything to its fullest. She never met a stranger, enjoyed entertaining, and was a wonderful hostess. Marie had diverse interests and was a member of numerous social organizations to which she brought her many talents. She was a passionate advocate for the mentally disabled, lobbying state legislatures and occupying prominent roles in several local and state organizations over the span of decades. Above all else, Marie loved her family. She was with family at the time of her death, supported and surrounded by their love which she never doubted. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, and daughter Drinda "Missy" Marie Seitz. She is survived by her children David Seitz and his wife Helen Seitz; William Seitz and his wife Charlotte Stelly-Seitz; her grandchildren, Aaron Seitz, Taylor Seitz, Carly Seitz, Oscar Teengs, Caroline Roeland and her husband Jurriaan Roeland. There are many cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as friends who were family to her. Marie passed with the equivalent of her "boots on" with full makeup and her hair freshly coiffed, just as all knew her. She would thank everyone that touched her life for your love and laughter, as does her family. We will all miss her! The celebration of her life includes visitation at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX, 77598 on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 5-7pm and funeral in the chapel of Forest Park East at 3pm on Monday, March 30, 2015. Do not feel the need to wear black as her life has always been full of color!
