Mildred Rose Landry Cox, known to friends and family as Millie, was a very loving and supportive mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She passed away on November 26, 2016 at the age of 92 due to complications from a recent fall.

Millie was born on April 1, 1924 in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Louis & Bertie Landry. She graduated from St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing in Port Arthur in 1945 and then worked at the hospital as Head Nurse in the maternity ward. She went on to work for a private doctor in Port Arthur as Office Nurse.

She met Zeno M. Cox in 1941 on a blind date set up by her future sister-in-law, Ann Cox Graham. She and Zeno were married on March 3, 1946 and moved to Houston. Millie worked for one year as a Surgical Nurse at a clinic in Houston and then a short time as a Surgical Nurse at Pasadena General Hospital until her first child was born. She then devoted herself to being a full-time homemaker, raising and taking care of her family. She was actively involved with her three daughters' activities, especially the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and followed their activities with loving pride and joy. She was a long-time member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and held strongly to her faith.

Millie is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Zeno M. Cox, her daughter, Melinda Kay Cox Walters, and her sister, Mary Helen Luquette. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Cox Jones and husband Fred of Kingwood, and Barbara Cox Holt and husband Ron of Pearland. She has five grandchildren, Christine Holt Dewhirst and husband Eric of Aldie, Virginia, Michael Holt and wife Cynthia of Dallas, Matthew Walters and wife Kaitlyn of Deer Park, Heather Walters Flint and husband Jason of San Antonio, and Sean Walters of Denton. Great-grandchildren are Savannah Walters, Samuel Holt, Abigail Holt, Ella Dewhirst, and Allison Dewhirst.

Visitation will be from 9:45 am until time of service on Thursday, December 1, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook St. in Houston. The funeral service will begin at 11 am with Deacon Freddy Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
